The ringing in my right ear began suddenly in 2000 and tends to ebb and subside over time. It is primarily a single, constant tone in my right ear, which has also become significantly deaf.

If I press my fist against my forehead, the volume increases slightly and even spills over into my other ear. Clenching my teeth makes it even louder. If I extend my neck forward and down, like a turtle, the sound becomes incredibly loud.

One particularly bizarre experience stands out. I remember waking up one morning after an amazing night's sleep. I was lying on my back, completely still, feeling well-rested and fully alert. With my eyes wide open, I noticed something astonishing: the ringing in both ears was completely gone. It was absolute silence. But then, two seconds later, it turned back on, like flipping a light switch.

My primary goal in life now is to sit by the shore of a northern lake late at night and hear absolutely nothing—a blissful childhood memory that I miss so deeply.
