Tinnitus Since
01/2013
5 months ago I was on holiday overseas, back then I had bought a pair of earphones. For the whole holiday (Two weeks), I used them. When I came back, I started hearing ringing buzzing, and random noises in my ears. I am pretty sure this is tinnitus. I am not sure if this is related to my tinnitus but occasionally I hear my eardrum popping when I run or jog. I am currently very depressed about my tinnitus because I have my whole life in front of me. I just need to ask few questions.

Will my tinnitus go in the future?

Does tinnitus get worse or better in the future?

Do you eventually ignore your tinnitus after time?

Hi, Tyson,
Welcome to Tinnitus Talk! I'm so sorry you're experiencing tinnitus at such a young age.

To answer your questions, I'll take them one at a time:

1. Will my tinnitus go in the future?
No guarantees, but it is possible that you are having a temporary bout of tinnitus, caused by the earphones, or by something else. As Robert Fahey suggested, it might be a good idea to go to an ENT to see if there is some problem that could be causing your tinnitus.

2. Does tinnitus get worse or better in the future?
For most of us, tinnitus may start out very bad, and with time it gets better. Many of us get used to it after awhile, and can tune it out so that it is not bothersome. This is called habituation, and it might take awhile for this to happen, but it can and does happen with time.

3. Do you eventually ignore your tinnitus after time?
Yes, most people do, unless it is very severe.

There are many things you can try that might help you. It's probably a good idea to go to the doctor first, just to make sure everything is all right. Then, you might try various treatments (supplements, sound therapies, etc.) that are detailed on this forum.

I wish you well, and hope you'll keep us posted on how you are doing!
