Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown, Started A Week After A Cold
Hi all.

I'm about 7 weeks into my tinnitus with no change in the frequency or severity.

So far none have been able to pin point the reason.

I did audiogram up to 8 kHz twice with no hearing loss more than 15 dB.
I have done a CT scan, ABR and MRI. All 7 ENTs I've seen said they don't see any issues with the ear and that it could be a result of the cold I had and should wait for 6 months and see.

Hence I am thinking of travelling to a clinic that would be able to pinpoint the reason why I have tinnitus.

Can any one suggest any clinics that are good and specialised in tinnitus?

I contacted Brai2n in Belgium but their waiting list is a couple of months.

That may not be possible. Quite often it's impossible to pinpoint a cause with 100% certainty.

Could your hearing loss be in the higher frequencies (above 8 kHz)?

I've heard good things about Brai2n (yes, am aware of the waiting list...), and also about Acquaklinik (it's in Leipzig, Germany).

Indeed I have called them up for an appointment which I got for April

@attheedgeofscience since you are in Germany do you recommend any clinics or hospitals in hamburg? Acquaklinik seems to be more into operations

Germany is a 7 hour flight from where I am, thus I want to goto a clinic / hospital to do a full body check up blood, scans etc.. to check what could be the cause of my tinnitus, I feel knowing the root cause at least will help me habituate to it

or would you recommend going to Thailand to do the body check up and then do a stem cell treatment

Hello, can anyone advise any good Tinnitus Clinics located in Europe?

Am a recent T sufferer(since 5th Novermber 2015) and looking for a decent clinic to visit as there is no expertise in my country. I understand there is no proven and 100% cure though can't help giving it a try as its very recent.

I believe my Tinnitus was brought on because of two serious sinus infections back to back in 2015

I guess its true what they say ...... Hope dies last

Brai2n is the best in EU. It's not as good as it used to be (De Ridder moved to New Zealand).

Cleveland Clinic (Ohio) has a Tinnitus Management Clinic. You can read about it on their website.
The premise is: " It provides a comprehensive approach to the evaluation and management of patients with tinnitus through a multidisciplinary team focused on patient care, education and research."

Has anyone been through this program?

CC is rated #1 in U.S. for cardiology. I have been there for that reason and many other health problems (ie: Lupus). The treatment I received is top rate!

Thanks
Lucy

What good does that do when there is no help for tinnitus? Cleveland Clinic can't cure you...

They can run tests, make sure you don't have tumors, sell you hearing aids or maskers, give counseling, prescribe drugs like benzos or trobalt.

Why don't you give them a phone call and ask what the program consists of?

"Real" tinnitus clinics that I know of with varying capability:
The varying capability means that one clinic will approach therapy from the audiological angle, whereas others may not.

"Real" means that these clinics are not just inhabited by a psychotherapist telling you that you will habituate to your tinnitus regardless of its severity.

I called the Cleveland Clinic about this before, and all they offer is you coming in and seeing different doctors for x amount of time.(ent, neurologist, audiologist)andthen deciding what should be done afterwards.you have to be put on a list as its a long one .didn't really sound helpful to me.I've ready been to all of those doctors and I still have tinnitus.maybe they could offer something different now .that was about 3 years ago.
