Tinnitus, Depression and the Sound of the Crickets

This might help you to ease your mind.

"Imagery Exercise - How to Manage Your Tinnitus"

Hi Ozzy-
I was watching some coverage on the mining accident in turkey. You are not a miner are you? One of the names that came up was Ozgur and I thought about you. Hope things are going well. I'm still trying to get a grip on this T thing.
Some days are better than others of course. I think the tinnitus has caused me to reflect on my life, and I needed to go back and deal with some past issues. It really takes a toll on your self confidence which adds to the anxiety. Did you experience any of that? Trying to re-program the brain is not easy. I have become much more spiritual and closer to my savior. I know he will give me the strength I need. I just can't believe they having come up with something for this by now. There seems to be a pill for almost everything, but not this.

Hello Joe,

Many thanks for your consideration. But 301 people died in the accident. I was lucky that I was not a miner.
As for me, thingss are generally going well. Thanks again.

Yes Joe. In the first 6 months, and especially in the critical 3 months, tinnitus made me anxious, sad and depressive. So it is normal. But everything's gonna be allright. Remember this. Your brain will adapt the condition soon. Just relax and thing about the good things in life... I know how hard it is. But you will overcome this...

Hi @Ozzy,

Truly inspiring story. I as read through it I found many common points with my own and gives me hope to recover to the level you seem to have.
I'm also an Engineer (electronics) and recently turned 40. My noise was also triggered by a peak stress period (although I have mild hearing loss in left ear). It's also not single-tone but a high frequency hiss that resonates in my head and changes all the time (sometime pounding with my heartbeat). It's loud and piercing and I can hear/feel it just above everything except the shower (safe-haven! :)).
A few weeks back as I was starting to have a few "good" days but lately I have sunk again with depressive thoughts.
It is such as mind game to separate your feelings from the harmless sound. An endless battle of you fighting with your thoughts.

Anyway I'm glad I read your testimony. It gave me renewed strength at least for today. Stay well.

David

Hi @David Ho

I'm glad that you like my story.

The problem is the mind. Currently your mind, as it is new to the T., gets a little bit crazy.
But soon it will adapt to this new condition.

Your depressive days will be over...

Don't feel lonely out there..
Millions are having that..
And we are here with you..

Merhaba Ozzy. I spent a year in Murted, Turkey while in the USAF. I feel a kindred relationship with you. I got to know a great many very nice Turkish friends while there--a long time ago. My severe T started suddenly in May 2010. I have tried so many things with no luck.

Anyway best regards. Rick.

@tabasco

Merhaba Rick,
Sorry for the late response.
I hope you willl no more suffer from tinnitus.
Meanwhile, think about beautiful things in life...

And I hope you can come to Turkey again..
Let me now when you come.. Let's have some coffee together...

Best Regads,
Ozgur
