I hope it is a good sign.
I've had tinnitus at about 12 kHz for 10 years. Really quite mild to be honest. In the last few months I've had a much more intrusive tone at 4 kHz and 8.2 kHz that are really difficult to deal with.
For the first 3-4 months, I had no change whatsoever. Permanently there and generally at the same volume. In the last 2-3 weeks I've noticed that my 4 kHz tone has changed to 4.6 kHz and is probably only present about 30-40% of the time. I think the 8.2 kHz tone has gotten softer but is probably there 90% of the time. I've had brief moments, generally at night, where I have complete silence. Zero tinnitus. And then I feel like if I move/stand up it comes back, or even if I stay still it'll come back within 5-10 minutes.
For the past 20 years I've used headphones daily. For the last 3-4 months I've not used them at all and not exposed myself to any loud noises.
Ears 'recovering' a bit? Or just another cruel taunt from tinnitus? No idea...
