Tinnitus Followed by Episodes of Dizziness and Nausea — And Driving a Car Makes Me Dizzy

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have been suffering from tinnitus on and off since 2015.

I started with vertigo a couple of years before the tinnitus but could always bring it under control by doing the Epley manoeuvre.

Just lately it is getting worse. I start with the ringing, whistling and buzzing and I know it's going to be followed by dizziness, nausea and a fuzzy head with a feeling of fullness around my ears. It's usually the right ear that's affected but this time it's both.

I have asked the doctor to refer me to an ENT specialist as I think it could be Meniere's.

Also every time I drive or even when I'm a passenger in my partner's car it starts the dizziness off and then I can't drive until it settles. I used to have my own car and I never had any problems and it seems to have started a lot more since using our other car. Not sure if it's me or the car.

You should legally not be driving and you should have DVLA notified.

Your car insurance will be void and driving licence should be withheld until you go a year with out dizziness, vertigo etc...

I would urge you to ask your ENT to evaluate you for Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SSCD), also known as Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS). I was diagnosed last January. It's very rare — only the 5th ENT I saw was aware of it and knew how to diagnosis it.
