Cause of Tinnitus
chiro visit?
Hello. I've had tinnitus since last Saturday. I came home from a night shift and tried to take a nap. Couldn't fall asleep so I moved to my couch and started to notice a high pitched whine in my left ear that has been almost constant since.

My mental health has been poor since last September after a 3 week binge on alcohol. Had insomnia, depression, anxiety severely this entire time frame. No insurance until now so I haven't been to a doctor since last fall. Experiencing all this and now tinnitus has me at a breaking point (suicidal ideation).

Not sure what has caused this. I went to a chiropractor for an adjustment the previous day for lower back pain but he also cracked my neck. The tinnitus appeared the following morning.

I was also experimenting with Kratom for the last few weeks in an attempt to alleviate my mental health issues.
I began to experience
muscle spasms in my calves and brain fog as a side effect so I discontinued use as of a week ago. Not sure if there is a correlation.

The tinnitus is mainly in my left ear/side of my head and I don't perceive any hearing loss. It's a high pitched whine sound.

Went to urgent care Sunday because I was in a high state of distress from the combined factors. The doc checked my left ear and said it looked healthy. He also wrote me a script for Mirtazapine and Venlafaxine. 2 meds I was on about a year and a half ago. So far I've only taken one dose of the Mirtazapine 15mg to aid with sleep.

Just looking for advice, support, suggestions as I am at the lowest point of my life and don't feel like I can continue another day. I've read a bit on these forums and the long term prognosis for tinnitus is disheartening to say the least. Any suggestions on the next steps to take would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Kratom!

What's that.

@Bobby B Kratom is a ground up leaf from Southeast Asia used for pain relief, stress, anxiety etc... usually taken in a powder form. Some use it to wean off opiates.

@Mantis11

I know this is an older post, but how are you doing now?

We both got tinnitus about the same time last year. I so wish we tinnitus sufferers could talk to one another, not just type. At night I find that sleep headphones, not Bluetooth, with guided meditation on relaxation, teaches us how to let the stress go... And fall asleep.

I just started taking Kratom, I found all other natural remedies that help depression (SAMe, St. John's Wort, and many things) just increase my noise.

But I have habituated quite a bit. I'm soooo glad I didn't drive my car off a cliff. I lead a happy life again.
