Hello everyone. Mike here. I have had tinnitus for a long time. Probably for about 30 years. It is the non-pulsatile, constant ringing. I only really mentioned it to someone as a kid maybe once, I think my dad, and he looked at me strange, so I never discussed it with anyone else ever again.
About a year ago I began a meditation practice and found sometimes it can disturb my session, so I am starting to dig in to it. Now I know it is called tinnitus and it is actually quite common. Turns out I'm not going crazy lol. I am so used to it I never really tried to solve the problem. Plus now I can scour the internet in the palm of my hands.
Using the tinnitus flowchart, I think it has something to do with nerves or muscles in my jaw or neck. This has always been my suspicions, and it seems the chart is confirming this. The chart has given me hope, but I still have doubts I will be able to solve it.
Baby steps. I brought it up with my massage therapist and she said it is covered in her text books. We are going to explore massage. I am also going to make a better effort to trouble shoot it on my own. I saw there is an app that helps keep track of the intensity. I will also explore that to help.
All in all, I have lived with this for so long, it is easy for me to ignore it, but I dream of the day that I have some silence as it always gets louder whenever things get quiet. Probably just noticing it more. I feel bad for people who get it out of the blue. It must be torture for them.
Anyways, thought I would reach out to the forum here and if anyone has any advice, please feel free as I am open to suggestions. The forum looks daunting. It will take some time to go through.
Cheers!
Mike
