- Cause of Tinnitus
- Loud music on headphones
Hi everyone!
I am happy to post here because I know that in a supportive community where everyone has each other's back, the best progress can be made.
I am 22 years old now and have had tinnitus for three years, ever since I was 19. It started one day after I went for a walk wearing over ear headphones and playing music while aggressively chewing gum. That evening, as I lay down to sleep, I noticed the ringing for the first time. The first six months were awful. To make matters worse, I made the mistake of going clubbing with unsatisfactory earplugs or no earplugs at all once, and that caused it to get worse.
Over time, things improved somewhat, or maybe I just habituated. Now, I would rate my tinnitus at about a 6 out of 10 in loudness, which I mostly notice in quiet environments. For a while, I tried ignoring it, hoping it would go away. I know someone whose tinnitus, caused by a gunshot, faded after two years. Unfortunately, I have not seen any real improvement.
So, this year, I have decided to try everything I possibly can to eliminate my tinnitus completely (aim high!). There are people out there, like Vik Veer, who have significantly improved or even gotten rid of their tinnitus, and I believe I can too.
Do any of you know someone personally who has managed to get rid of their tinnitus? I would love to hear some inspiring stories!
