Hello friends,

I came back from a trip abroad mid August 2022 and felt super weird - kind of sick, but mostly very dizzy and my head felt like a balloon. I thought I was just jet lagged. Two weeks forward, dizziness is still there and at that point I didn't really pay too much attention to ringing in ears because dizzines was more overwhelming. Went to see ENT and did audiology test that showed very minor hearing loss at 8k Hz which concided with my ringing in ears that I became aware of in the meantime. A couple of months later (just 2 weeks ago) I did the VNG test that wasn't perfect but basically within the normal limits. I also did MRI which came back clear.

Dizziness is slowly fading away (thankfully), but ringing in my right ear does not stop. It is a very high pitch. It doesn't bother me too much when I am out (restaurants, bars, and similar), but when I am at home where it is quiet, it is almost impossible not to notice it.

I know that many here have similar issues. Was wondering if there is someone who had tinnitus caused by labyrinthitis and ever got any relief? My ENT doctor is optimistic since all the tests are more less clear, but tinnitus seems like such a weird one and it seems like there are no rules.

Also, I have noticed that it started adding more frequencies. Lately I started hearing this "broken fridge" type of sound, which doesn't bother me that much because it is of a much lower pitch. What does it mean when you start hearing more than one frequency? Does this mean situation is getting worse? My Dr says tinnitus can change over time and this is not necessarily bad.

I started taking lipo-flavonoid plus on my ENTs recommendation today and I will keep you guys updated after one month.

I would really appreciate anyone's opinion at this time.

Thank you all! It feels so much better knowing I am not alone. <3

Hey there @KikiRiki - Just wanted to welcome you to the forum, my tinnitus wasn't caused by labyrinthitis (or at least I wasn't ever diagnosed with that). I haven't had any related balance issues. That sounds dreadful. I'm glad to hear the dizziness is fading for you.

I also wanted to mention that my tinnitus varies in quality day by day. Sometimes it's a hiss, sometimes it's a high-pitched multi-tonal squeal, sometimes it's just a hum. I think everyone's is different. Some people have a constant single tone. And some people have a multitude of sounds that varies over time. I don't think it's necessarily a bad sign that you've noticed another sound. One thing I've noticed is that certain things correlate with certain sounds for me. For instance, if I haven't been having good sleep, mine takes on a more urgent, multi-tonal squeal. If I get better sleep, it's more of a hum variety.

You're definitely not alone, keep us updated on your status. The oft-quoted adage here is to try not to focus too much on it, as difficult as it is to do. Studying it to closely and giving it undue attention feeds the beast so to speak. Have you run across the Back to Silence thread on this forum? It's a good read if you're looking for a method for diverting your attention away from it.
