Hello.

I had tinnitus for almost a year, but it suddenly went away after being in the sun for a week.

I normally live in the northern hemisphere where there is not that much sun, in the northern Norway.

I went to Creta, Greece for a week on vacation, and when I came home my tinnitus was gone or rather significantly reduced.

That's great! Mine sometimes disappears for the first two or three days of a holiday but then it comes back again

Hopefully this year. Going from Scotland to the south of Italy

The pattern that has emerged for me has been that my tinnitus improves when I am off, and also gets worse when I go to work. I am not sure why that is as my job is not generally noisy, and am not sure if this is more stress related.

I have the same experience. My days off are much more tolerable. I work in surgical operating rooms all day. There is lots of noise, but nothing that's at a harmful level. I hear the tinnitus over all that noise. Somehow subconsciously it really stresses me out and really makes it ring.

A lot of factors can potentially be involved when a change of location leads to changes in tinnitus. Some that come to mind: 1) In the case where one is exposed to more sunshine, it could lead to an increase in Vit. D,. and a corresponding improvement in immune function, which could have the potential to improve low-grade infections in the body.

Other factors could include: 2) Less stress; 3) Less exposure to certain environmental toxins, including molds, fungi, and other airborne allergens; 4) Less emf exposure; 5) Spending less time on tinnitus forums, and giving our psyche a chance to somewhat recover and reorient itself'; and a few other factors besides.

Yeah I agree about Vit D comments, I am on D supplements currently as my D is low (hasn't helped yet, my T has been hell lately).

Be interesting to see if your T stays low now you are home.. I also went away for a week soon after my T started up really badly and mine went away too .. it came back within a day of returning home though ... we think it's EMF from a new communications tower next to the house ..... or atleast that's the base of it.

My tinnitus is the same way. It is loud 24/7 constant high pitched . I can hear it over everything (like windows down doing 80 on the freeway) Come home cry, depressed ect ect. Go on vacation for one week camping with the family and buy time i get back its so low it might as well be like i didn't have it or id say a 3/10. I mean i can still hear it 24/7 but it is like far away cicadas. then i got back to work and have a massive spike or change in loudness. its louder than ever and I'm currently tapering off steroids that i ran and got on the day the spike started out of no where. steroids helped but tapering down has brought back the intense noise. fearing this is my new baseline. I'm in month 8 and i think it was from ototoxic drugs (naproxen and viagra) I had fully habituated to where i wasn't using ear plugs in restaurants anymore and now i am back to square 1. Sucks so bad. Just hope i can re habituate and the T goes back down from this 8/10 to at least a 5/10. I usually hang out around a 5 but it fluctuates like crazy. usually spikes would go away in a week or 2. This one feels different.

There is a big difference between D supplements and sunlight. Sunlight clears inflammation from just under the skins surface, supplements don't. It's winter here right now but you can bet as soon as the sun is out. I'll be laying in it

Well I live in the sun and have not seen any difference. Maybe it is the relaxation. One thing I noticed. When I am swimming away from the shore it seems to get better.

Im afraid the gains were not long lasting it quickly came back after the vacation, but I think it's more related to stress and my jaw, I have been doing jaw exercises and notices changes in tinnitus after, I keep doing exercises and update on my progress.

Are your jaw exercises helping?
