Tinnitus Gone After Starting on Parkinson's Disease Medication!

I am still on it from two years ago. Seems to change the characteristics of my tinnitus a bit and is also a good antidepressant. Worth a shot. Google pramipexole tinnitus study, find one and take it with you to the doctor - they will probably be more likely to prescribe if you can show evidence.

Tinnitus control by dopamine agonist pramipexole in presbycusis patients: a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study
I'd be interested to try Pramipexole. I have visual snow and my tinnitus went from very mild to screaming 10/10 when I took Amitriptyline for my visual snow syndrome. So without question my severe tinnitus and visual snow is a result of a thalamacortical dysrhythmia and I believe the worsened tinnitus was caused by increased Serotonin when I took the drug.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what the worst thing that could happen would be if I tried Pramipexole? Is it known to be ototoxic?

We need to stop this ototoxicity thing in my opinion. Very few drugs are ototoxic. Neil Bauman or whoever he is has a lot to answer for in causing paranoia.

From what I can gather, most drugs have the potential to be ototoxic. All you have to do is peruse this forum for a short while to get a fuller understanding of drug ototoxicity.

I'm still completely confused on the dopamine thing.

Pramipexole increases dopamine and yet Dr. De Ridder prescribes one that decreases it (Flupentixol) and sometimes Abilify, which I also believe decreases it?

So what do you do?
No idea of the MoA to be honest.

My tinnitus was made significantly worse by a drug so that's the reason I'm pretty paranoid about ototoxicity. When you introduce agents to the brain that change the chemical balance, it can obviously have drastic effects on tinnitus and many other brain functions. In the end, if one chooses to go the medicinal route for treatment it really feels like a crapshoot. I was pleased to hear about this Parkinson's drug helping though, to have the noise silenced feels so unattainable when you're in the midst of it.

He puts his name as "Neil Bauman, Ph.D". He has a Master's degree in Theology and two PhDs, one in Forestry and the other in Ancient Astronomy. A little bit dishonest if you ask me.

Another tinnitus scammer opportunist.

Are you off the Amitriptyline?
