What I feared most happened, the tinnitus hit the second ear. I woke up early and was reading in bed when I started listening on the left side. I'm feeling desolate.

Hello Michael. Since my tinnitus came I stopped completely with the headphones. However, the volume is increasing gradually every week, which automatically increases my stress. My ENT has indicated clonazepam to help me sleep and reduce anxiety. In the first two weeks it has helped a lot but lately I've been developing the symptoms that I reported in my previous post. I have good and bad days, it has not been easy to accept this new condition. I'm too scared to start losing my hearing. I'll read all the articles you submitted. Thank you very much for the support.
Hi @Jéssica Amorim
I would prefer to you see you on an antidepressant instead of clonazepam. I take it occasionally and it helps but this drug is known to cause dependency if regularly taken. Please speak to your doctor about this and perhaps something else can be recommended. The things you are experiencing is quite common with the onset of tinnitus. In time you will improve but it might take a while.
All the best
Michael
I felt the same way when i sensed an increase in my "better ear".
what is the cause of your t? recent audiogram?
Hi @Jéssica Amorim
I've been where you are. Had T in my left ear for almost 30 years, and was happy to have my "good ear." I always thought if I got T in my right ear, I'd be screwed, deaf, and it would be the worse that could happen. This spring the T in my left ear got louder and then to add insult to injury, started to hear it in my good ear. I swear the first time I noticed it was when I was meditating. To say I freaked out is an understatement. Anyway, I'm just here to tell you several months later that I am fine. Don't love it, but am used to the new T in my good ear. I agree with the awesome advice from @Michael Leigh that containing your anxiety is most important at this point. RM
