Noise exposure
I made my own simulation to show my family what it's like to have tinnitus and hyperacusis and it was really quite simple.

—I placed headphones on them playing a high pitched noise but not too loud.

—I placed a TENS device on their jaws and head also and every time I made a sudden noise I would shock them slightly and increase the noise temporarily through the headphones.

My family members couldn't withstand more than 10 minutes of it and has finally opened their eyes to how debilitating this is.

This needs to be done to people on the street while filming their reaction!
You should have filmed your family maybe and used the clip for awareness campaign

I actually love this idea. Sounds like an excellent piece for awareness.

It's something I've never seen done. I love the part about seeing people's reactions. This would of course require a signed release form indicating that they will be shown on the video.

I'm not sure about the TENS device part; safety concerns of using it on the heads of random people?

If someone (in an English-speaking country) wanted to donate a little of time & skills to do this, would be fantastic.

Anyone thinking of "I CAN!", please contact me via a PM.

I'll post my girlfriends reaction shortly to give people an idea here of how good an accurate simulation it is and it makes for interesting viewing, after about 5 minutes the ringing becomes too much and then I add the hyperacusis simulation and she freaks out and can't handle it.

She survived by the way lol;)

Where do you get this stimulation stuff from?
