Hi,

I have been wearing a tinnitus masker for a year. My tinnitus is in the 6kHz range and that is also the frequency that my hearing aid masked. However, this masking sound does not cause residual inhibition.

The thing I am curious about is, what if I do not mask the 6kHz range but <3kHz. I tried this with a self made sound on the computer and it seemed as if my tinnitus went down in volume after just listening for a short duration. It could be placebo though..

Masking helps train your brain to cope better with your tinnitus sound over time .
You will still hear your sound when you stop using the masker but won't find the sound as problematic.
I was so glad to use mine in the early years.
Two Maskers are always best even if only have tinnitus in one ear to equalize your auditory system....lots of love glynis
