Hi,
This is my first post as i dont read the forums much.
i have had tinnitus for 2 years.i would say that at times it couldn't be any worse.my t is multi tonal to even wind noises or mechanical machinery.
have had the usual mri,ent appointments etc etc. Sorry cant do anything for you rubbish.
am at present having therapy.my tinnitus was just so loud.
I have had the usual benzos in the early stages and numorous other pills.
so i heard that anti depressants can reduce the loudness.i wasnt expecting any results.
i was finally prescribed my 3rd anti depressant even though i am not depressed and i have been amazed .
i am taking mirtazapine at the starting 15mg dose.this can be increased to 30 then 45mg.
my tinnitus has been reduced by a great deal sometimes 50 to 75 per cent.its been 4 weeks now.
I would say that your body sorts out the tinnitus so you cope better as time goes on but this med has made a massive difference when all else failed.
If your tinnitus is bad maybe it will help you too.
If you go to your GP and give it a try then come back to this thread as i would love to know if it helps anyone else.
All the best
