Cause of Tinnitus
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A couple nights ago, I was so stressed out that I started to cry, cry, and cry.

I cried so hard that I ended up completely warping my tinnitus for a minute and a half. What was once a series of tonal whines that changed in pitch depending on which ear I was focusing on, became a low rumble and nothing else. My nose was blocked, my ears felt full, my eyes were full of tears, and all of the sudden I felt a blockage in both ears that turned into this rumbling sound. I could feel my eardrums vibrating aggressively as I continued to sob. After I calmed down, all was back to normal. I can hear the usual tones today, and the low rumble is gone.

Could this brief moment indicate what the cause of my three year old tinnitus might be?

Tinnitus feeds on stress and anxiety. When you were in a stressful position it spiked. That might not happen for everyone but I've personally experienced spikes from being in a similar stressful situation to yours.

Happens to me too. Clear spike when crying.
