Hi, I am sadly new here.
Three weeks ago, while I was watching TV, my ear canal started to itch. I tried to scratch it and used my pinky finger to pump air inside the ear a few times, which created a mini vacuum. When I removed my finger, a loud screeching tinnitus started, accompanied by a sensation of fluid leaking inside my ear. When I tilted my head sideways, I could feel the fluid moving around inside the middle or inner ear. This stopped shortly afterward, but I was left with muffled hearing, pain, and a bit of dizziness or imbalance.
The next day, I visited an ENT who confirmed that my eardrum was not ruptured. They prescribed oral antibiotics and ear drops. Two weeks later, there was no improvement, so I went back to the ENT. This time, I was prescribed allergy pills and nasal decongestant drops. While the muffled sensation has slightly improved as I can now hear a popping sound when I swallow, the loud screeching tinnitus and occasional pain remain the biggest issues.
The doctor did not provide much information, as my visit was just before Christmas, and he seemed rushed. I believe they suspect Eustachian tube blockage, but I worry it might be something more serious, potentially caused by the vacuum suction damaging my middle or inner ear.
I was already dealing with several other health issues, and adding this has been incredibly difficult to cope with.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did your tinnitus eventually go away? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
