How common is tinnitus switching ears?

Is there a reason why it happens?

It has happened to me for a few seconds.

The constant noise in the left ear moves to the right ear for a few seconds.

My tinnitus switched to my right ear. I'm not sure if it's neck muscle caused or brain based, or something else? Confusing. I tried Cymbalta for 2 or 3 days and now have sweaty palms. Probably will quit Cymbalta.

I've had tinnitus apparent on my left side since 1969 like an annoying old friend that won't go away. Once in awhile I will experience a chirping sound on my right side that will go away a short time after it starts. Last night my tinnitus increased in volume and switched to my right side, the left side noise may still be there masked by this new loud gift. I recently had cataract surgery on my left eye and have been using steroid drops for inflammation, anyone had eye surgery cause this switch. The new louder hum is driving me crazy, have to get used to it all over again.
