Cause of Tinnitus
Likely jaw and/or neck issues
Hi! My tinnitus has since day one switched between ears. Just yesterday, my right ear was the bad one. Today, it's the left.

Sometimes it stays worse in one ear for a while, sometimes it only lasts a couple of days.

Anyone else who's experiencing this, and might now what the cause is?

@Imshael wow you reminded me of myself back in 2003. I remembered writing that I was so pissed off because the noise started drifting over to the other side. I remembered saying oh no you don't you can have the right ear but stay away from the left....don't you dare start up in my brains either!!!!

There really isn't any reasoning for this - it just happens.

So strange. Clearly the brain element. My trauma mainly effected my left ear, which has hearing loss, the right is fine. Tinnitus started in left, and then the right joined the party a few days later. Been in both since. Although the sound types and tones are unique to each.

Yes. My different tones switch from ear to other ear and head or altogether. No idea why.

Mine is generally worse in my left but when it gets amped up it fills up my head and the right one will start copying the sounds in the left. Then on the very rare good day when my left ear quiets down I can absolutely hear my right ear.

Yup, I have tinnitus from neck and jaw issues. When my tinnitus is low it's in the right or left ear or near it. When my tinnitus is bad it's in my brain.

I have this too, my tinnitus lives in my left ear and the centre, but often softens in the left ear into an on off long hissing sound. My right ear and centre then provides a continuous high pitch sound.

The odd thing is when the hiss sometimes switches from the right to the left in an instant, it almost feels like a mechanical switch has been flicked.

I can't help but think cerebro fluid plays a role in the location of the sound somehow as it often moves and radiates with my head position.
