Tinnitus Week this year is from 3 to 9 February.

During the week, many tinnitus organisations join hands in raising awareness for tinnitus. This time, the focus will be specifically on Research, particularly of course research into a cure.

Below is an outline of what we, Tinnitus Hub, will be doing during the week. The best way to stay updated is to follow our social media accounts (➡️ Facebook, ➡️ Twitter) on a daily basis. If you like our activities, you can help promote tinnitus research by sharing our content as much as possible! Let's make a difference together.

Ok folks, we really want to give a big push to THIS PETITION asking the government more funding to tinnitus research, and we need ALL OF YOU to help out!

We just published this video:

Please, please, please share this as widely as you can.
All your friends, family and followers need to know about this!

All you have to do is share this Facebook post and/or this Tweet.

The drawings were done by the wonderful @MrCrybaby (such talent!) and were animated - i.e. brought to life - by the amazing @Autumnly.

Can you all please sign the BTA's petition as soon as you can:

I want to see the tinnitus community come together and unite in solidarity and this is a perfect opportunity to do so. There can be no possibility of any meaningful action if the world cannot hear us, so it is on us to push this petition and to get it signed by as many people as is humanly possible. There can be no excuses as it takes next to no time to do and it is such a small action to undertake, but the consequences could be huge.

If we can get over 100,000 signatures we will get government level attention, and there will surely be a debate in the House of Commons in the UK. If we can get over 500,000 signatures then we could potentially stir-up significant worldwide interest.

Don't just sign it, promote it! Leave a comment and then share it on your social media platforms. Again, this takes two seconds to do and costs nothing. 81 signatures in 3 days is simply not good enough. We need substantially more people getting involved.

Let's make it happen.

250 people have signed the petition. Get signing!

Strike while the iron is hot.

We need a biobank to start sub-typing tinnitus, to attract pharmaceutical investors.

BTA's petition will help us get more government funding for projects like the biobank.

After the UK House of Commons Roundtable on Tinnitus we have more of a voice. A small one though, the BTA were told by the politicians involved that there needs to be more agitation by the tinnitus community.

Therefore:
- Sign the petition
- Write to your MP

Let's do it this year, it's our moment!

It's nowhere near enough! What is stopping you all!!!!!!!

Sign it and get as many family and friends as you can to sign it as well. Get out there and promote the hell out of it. This is a real contribution that could potentially make a difference - as opposed to complaining on here about the state of tinnitus research, which achieves nothing.

It amazes me how we can't amass thousands upon thousands of signatures in just a matter of days with the reach this petition has. Come on people, it takes no time at all.

I shared the petition on r/tinnitus and r/tinnitusresearch, on French tinnitus Facebook group and emailed it to the French tinnitus association (for whatever good it will bring :dunno:).

350 signatures at this time, keep sharing!

Signed, even though I'm not from the UK.

Wanted to provide a comment, but didn't see how you can do this.

How long does this petition run?

I hope that lots of people sign this petition.

EDIT: Ok found it. You can comment after confirming your e-mail address.

I am pestering people on a Danish Facebook tinnitus group to sign it. I will also ask the few friends and family I have to sign it. And I also have asked some tinnitus sufferers I know on a debate site if they would sign it.

I want to see this getting thousands of signatures dammit! It's 2020... LET'S DO THIS!

I'd like to add that the last campaign I was involved with on Change.org was a success. I joined because the mother of a friend of mine died with bowel cancer that would have been survivable if the screening age was lower. That campaign ended up with 526,000 signatures which successfully resulted in the screening age being lowered from 60 to 50. It happened because one person decided to take action and enough people followed her.

I say this to highlight the importance of everyone getting involved by signing and sharing. As simple as it seems, petitions like these really can lead to meaningful results.

Signed, can't add any funds as no income at the moment so sorry guys.

Is this petition going to mentioned on the news today in the UK? Does anybody know?

The BTA said there will be some news slots today and to keep our eye out for them. I'm presuming the petition will be mentioned; I truly hope so as this desperately needs a leg up as it's not gaining enough momentum at the moment.

More than 800 signatures now. For a first day of mobilization on this I think it's actually quite good. Especially for tinnitus. It will only garner more attention during the week if we keep at it.

Hi all,

Here is our blog post about the House of Commons event!

As we now know, this event led up to the petition launched by BTA yesterday to push for more research funding and get tinnitus some much-needed government-level attention.

It's an opportunity we simply cannot waste. So please, sign it AND (very importantly) share it with all your friends and family!

Please do so even if you live outside the UK, your voice still matters...
