Loud Concert
I fell asleep with some light music on for sound enrichment. I've had some sensitivity to sound that makes my tinnitus spike a lot at slightly higher volumes but I've just tried to ignore it for the sense of treating the sensitivity.

The music was hardly loud at all, very low and quiet. However it still made my tinnitus spike. Left that on for the whole night to help me sleep.

When I woke up my tinnitus was practically screaming at me. Have I gone and ruined all my progress????

When I turn the music back down my tinnitus gets back to a whisper but I'm worried that I've aggravated it and gone and ruined everything.

Thankfully it's not that loud now, it sounds like a quiet high pitched hiss but still. Please I'm so scared.

Your tinnitus is recent.
Calm down, it's ok.
Here's an idea... no sound enrichment at night, since it cranked up your tinnitus.
Try sleeping without it, and protect your ears in public or noisy places.

Keep us posted.

Regarding hyperacusis and sound sensitivity may I ask if you experience noises sounding amplified or noises causing physical pain/aches?

Hyperacusis defined as "noise induced pain" is a separate condition from the non-painful type and is not effected by sound therapy.

Thank you. It seems to be better when I sleep without it. Right now it's quiet again. Then it spikes moderately every once in a while and then goes back to soft hissing and a quiet tone in both ears. I think it's getting better. The only thing is the sensitivity to sound...

Thanks for your response. Noises don't cause physical pain per say, they just cause my tinnitus to spike wildly. Like the sound would be accommodated by a loud, harsh hisss. Sometimes it would make me slightly dizzy.

I tried going to sleep with 'white noise' a couple of months ago when my tinnitus was quite new and woke up with really loud tinnitus which calmed down after a few minutes but very scary!

Not tried it since and just leave my window open to let in some ambient noise from outside. The tinnitus tone is still there now but not such an intrusive sound although it is still 'reactive' to some noise such as fans and aircon units.
