Hi all,
From researching on Tinnitus Talk and elsewhere, there appears to be a trend of people developing TMJD and/or tinnitus after starting Invisalign / teeth aligners. Although I know Invisalign causing tinnitus is disputed, Invisalign can induce TMJD which exacerbates tinnitus at the very least, especially in adults.
I've been using Invisalign for 2 years and developed TMJD symptoms / tinnitus in my right ear in the past year. I'm currently on my retainer for several more months and preparing for next steps after completion. I saw a TMJ specialist dentist that recommended an aligner that would force my jaw back into place.
Has anyone ever had positive results after completing their Invisalign treatment where TMJD / tinnitus organically improved? Or has everyone had to proactively treat the TMJD in perpetuity to see any benefit?
