Cause of Tinnitus
probably repeated noise from air tools
I first became aware of my tinnitus about 20 years ago. Probably caused by repeated air tool use, and listening to loud music on headphones. Usually I am not aware of it if I am involved in some sort of activity, but just recently it has intensified to the point that I cannot ignore it.

My tinnitus consists of several high pitched ringing, fluctuating and intertwining with each other in both ears, as well as hissing. It's as if there is a constant party of demons in my head.

I would like to tell all others in this forum to stay strong and have faith.

Remember the story of the man who grieved because he had no shoes, until he met a man who had no legs.

I would rather be able to hear with tinnitus than to not be able to hear at all.

Do you think if you had been protecting your ears from loud noises over the past 20 years, your T might not end up being louder?

Probably. But I retired last Feb and am no longer exposed to the noises, yet the increase happened within the last week. Could be caused by something else?

I agree, i think one of the reasons why my T doesn't bother me as much (even when it was severe) was that I traveled a lot and I saw how awful some kids in other countries have it. I always remember one time in Bangladesh a little girl was selling squid by the road, and she was clearly malnourished and starving...she told me her grandma was sick and so she had to quit school to sell squid. I felt so bad for her, I found out later that she is in an orphanage now...i donate every month to that orphanage...those kids all suffer so much.

The look of happiness and hope that was in her eyes when i dug out a piece of gum out of my purse was unlike anything i ever saw before...i never wanted for anything after that experience.
