Hi guys,
I am a Marine who is suffering from severe T. I have had it for over a month now and it has put me through pure hell. I want to help ANYONE I can with my findings. I am very lucky to have complete and full health care through my local VA and they are sending me to one of the top Tinnitus doctors. My appointment is January 12th of 2017. I will keep you guys posted on her findings for me and hopefully it will help someone.

I have noticed that I can control my T by sleeping with a set of CIC hearing aids in my ears and a fan beside my bed, to drown out the ringing I have and get good sleep. The next morning when I get up, I go out and work up a good sweat by either working or walking. I am not sure how this helps but it does. After I come back inside and take a shower my T seems to all but stop, for the rest of the day. When I get ready for bed, my T comes back. I am sure it has something to do with my activities and blood flow.

I am a completely healthy 48 year old male. I am taking some medications that have nothing to do with my tinnitus. I have normal blood pressure, but my Cholesterol is a little high. I have a set of hearing aids I have borrowed from a family member until I get my own and they do seem to help, at times.

I was suffering from a sever sinus infection and the doctor believes this could be the root of my T. He also thinks I will have it for the rest of my life. I was taking antibiotics and steroids for the infection. My infection has since cleared up and the T is still present.

My will to help anyone with this medical problem is strong. I mentioned to my wife, that I can see how someone could become suicidal after suffering from this, for only a month. It is my goal to help anyone who is suffering, in anyway I can. God bless

Ho John,

Welcome to the site.

You have had tinnitus for a short time and hopefully you will rid yourself of it before too long.

Anyway, when you go to the doctor, make sure you ask him to give you a hearing test and also ask him about Prednisone (steroid). Also, some people say B12/Ginko helps them. Also, some people try acupuncture therapy.

Anyway, keep us posted! Good luck!

Where is this specialist located? Tinitus is part of my VA disability, diagnosed 10 years ago. I recently went to an audiologist at the VA for a broken speaker effect during high background noises. Hearing test was really good but she was puzzled with my symptoms. She set me up for a different type of test next month and was going to talk with another specialist. I forgot what she said the test was.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I live in NC near Asheville. I go to the Charles George VA Medical Center. This will be my first visit, on the 12th of this month, but I was told the doctor I have my appointment with is a tinnitus specialist. I was going to file a claim for my tinnitus but I am already disabled with combat PTSD. I was in artillery for the first 2 years of my tour and I am sure I have damage from that.

I have heard the VA here is the best in the nation, I have been going to this VA for 15 years and never had any problems.
