Tow Truck Horn Blast Last Night While Not Wearing Earplugs

I was caught on the street sans plugs and a tow truck drove by and let out two damn loud blasts.

I immediately went home and took 1200mg NAC + Ativan + Magnesium + Melatonin ect.

I think I avoided a spike and as I JUST went through this in October, I think I'm going to pass on steroids. Anyone care to weigh in on my decision?

Going to go heavy on NAC + Magnesium etc for the next 10 days.

Just realized it's my 3 year anniversary too lol. FML.

@Bambam0, everyone finds what works for them and if that mix of meds works for you then that is great.

Steroids are not always the answer and come with their own list of side effects taking them and coming off them.

24 hours approaching since that horn blared. I still don't seem to be spiking - but I'd hate to not get steroids and have a spike start after 3-4 days. Anything else I can do?

I would pass on the steroids. No way a tow truck horn causes permanent damage. If you are fine now, you will be fine a week from now.

I'm the worst - I called and got steroids. I seem to be spiking a little bit in one of my ears but nothing incredible. I just want to avoid a potential increase! I got a 5-day course of 60mg. I think I'm going to do 3 days of 60mg/40mg/20mg and save the rest for an emergency. What do you guys think? Tinnitus makes me behave irrationally I know.

Please update us. I got a spike from one dose of Prednisone. Hope it goes back to baseline.

I took 60mg of Prednisone two days in a row. Going to save the rest. No spike from Prednisone. Tinnitus close to baseline still.

After many years with hyperacusis and tinnitus, if I find unexpected noise and it is loud enough, I just go on Deflazacort for 10 days. On average maybe I do this once or twice a year, which is reasonable, I think...
