Yes, advantages! Don't you think that we have some of them?

1) We go to bed every night with a hope for the morning.
2) We can always have a good excuse to refuse an invite.
3) We can always say: "Oh sorry, I didn't hear you!"
4) We have met all doctors of our town.
5) Our ears have no secrets anymore.
6) Some people talk about the sound of the universe. We can hear it!!
7) We really know the meaning of please, be patient!
8) There is nothing that can annoy us more than this.
9) We know exactly what a kilohertz is.
10) We became stronger than the others.
11) We can hear an ambulance before the others can.
12) White noise and pink noise for us are free.
13) Our concentration power has no rivals.
14) There is always someone thinking of us!
15) After a MRI with that weird radioactive liquid inside, nothing can scare us anymore.
16) When the radio isn't tuned right, we don't notice it!
17) We are not able to listen to bad whispers against us.
18) We represent 10% of the world population, so we are an elite of choosen people.
19) When Mr. T is low, we are so happy that we'd kiss everyone around!
20) We can be part of tinnitustalk.com!

Before shooting me, try to add some other advantage and you'll see it is very therapeutic! ;)

No one can shoot you over the internet unless you've found a way :) . This forum is all about the freedom to express yourself. Your list reminds me of what I used to have to do when interviewing for a job (no tinnitus just hearing loss) and you look at the negative (negatives here) and turn them into positives. It's a great attitude and entertaining.

All experiences with T will likely be different. No one here has my head, so it better be. Since I grew up with a hearing loss, I had too much experience with 2, 3, (5 I disagree with due to the complexity of the brain - they have a ton of secrets even after 1/2 a century), 8 YESSSSS (other than in my case a cochlear implant and I can't tell if T or the implant is more disconcerting), with a hearing loss in a busy and long career, 13 came first before the tinnitus, 16 comes with a hearing loss with and without T, lol 17 - hearing loss paranoia - completely normal. I may not understand all of it but if I hear my name, I am on high alert, 19 yup!, most importantly 20!!!! Rah!

I'll add to this positive post, when I say I hear sounds in my head, I can't be taken to a psych unit and locked up :) .

A fun post that allowed me to relive some interesting experiences in my life. Thanks.

And laughter is the best medicine. If I can crack a joke on this forum and have people get it, I've done
my part to brightening up this otherwise dark disease. Valentina, you're just my enabler for this :) , so please keep them coming.

Ciao.

24: Helps you put your foot on the ground about the value of health and life. Increases your life expectancy.

Before T, i was a workaholic, overweight, stressed, ambitious sickly, high blood pressure, high sugar levels, i thought i was inmortal, arrogant.

Today I'm healthier than ever (in spite of T), i take care of the best things in life, enjoy family, my sons and i work smarter not harder.

Yeah, I still like burgers...Addicted even!

Jeje yes I like burgers also. I eat a burger once a month, and i enjoy it like heaven.

I do have healthy burgers though! I get ostrich, kangaroo, wild boar or bison. They are much lower in fat when compared to beef and taste just as nice!

21) When we're cured we'd be the happiest people on earth and won't take life for granted!

"21) When we're cured we'd be the happiest people on earth and won't take life for granted!"

I do not know why but this reminded me of something I was told.
I went to a "healer/massage" person and this guy was blind , we were talking and I mentioned that I would rather lose an arm or something then have T and he said to me " Never bargain with your condition! Ever "

It has stayed with me ...when I start thinking about how happy I would be if only ....
I kind of do have the power to be happy now , hard yes , impossible ?
Sure feels like it sometimes but I am already trying to embrace the good moments and I do not take life for granted.

:)

If I lose an arm, then I couldn't play video-games...So no thanks lol....Anyway, tinnitus will be treated one day....Although, they can replace arms in the future...They also can cure blindness in the future...Where's my time machine lol

EXCELLENT POINT!

In some ways I too, live my life much better. Thank you for reminding me of that.

I have traveled the path with age and I agree with the healer/massage person. That's a very wise statement. Really, that's a great thing to remember for many of us on the forum who periodically feel like were going over the edge. There's always something even more devastating out there.

Now, if countries would just acknowledge it is a disease and we willingly admit, "Yes, it's in my head," and physician-assisted suicide and medical marijuana should be allowed. Amen.

We can get out of housework because the hoover is too loud.
Sorta similar: I can mow the lawn after removing my absolutely, no question cochlear implant that creates louder T with off because I can totally feel the power of the lawn mower pulsating through my body, so I have little issue with tinnitus and complete focus on the lawn and hand-powered mower.

I totally agree. I a more simple way, when you have T you realize that the little annoying things you had in life are not so annoying, you are more tolerant about those.

Please keep these sorts of threads coming, my friends!

Unfortunately, I'm not now at the point where such threads can really do me much good; too stuck in trying to figure out how best to move forward after my latest setback 4 months ago (after having dealt successfully with T since '06). But I think that once I scramble around and get my sea legs again, seeing these sorts of threads will help me maintain some positive momentum.

My problem now is stopping my slide downwards so that I can begin the climb again and I'll need something big for that. :-(
