Too early to tell if its working, but one of my hearing aids stopped working and I lost my "crutch" for three days, I noticed a difference, otherwise I would have said no change. It took about 2 days to get used to the sound generators.

Can u describe whole process, your decision, first day, first conversation there with doctors (who were they, audiologist, ENT or) your impressions, choosing of device...etc

Of course if u have a time

First day was consult with the audiologist/Dr, hearing test again for the umpteenth time, but by law they have to do it if it is over a year old I believe. The next visit was to try out a hearing aid/sound generators and wore it during the first counselling session. I trialled it, a week later back for another session, tweek the aid and now have some homework. CBT starts with basics of how sound works in your ear and brain, and background on T. Second session was about perception. I did CBT prior and it was non-medical and not T specific, so I did not get alot out of it and I am (was) a counsellor by profession so it was familiar to me. The theory is fine, its the how - the practical. Contrast appears to be a big issue for me. My hearing aids stopped working for three days in between visits so when I did not have the aids I had to scramble to my old methods to cope. I would categorize my T as being severe, but I am sure people have it worse than me. I can not work and now have major depression as well. I am trying to just approach this open minded, one day at a time and see where it goes, no expectations.

@Blair14 Good luck with your journey through trt. I know it isn't a cure but it makes me happy to see people being proactive about their situation. Maybe someday I will take the plunge too, just not in the right frame of mind and have lots of other things to deal with. Please keep us/me updated, not very often though as thinking about T is the exact opposite of what you want to do but just every so often would be nice.

Good lock Blair with your CBT and TRT....do you have duel purpose hearing aids with masker settings ?....
Lots of love glynis

I find mine really help and masker setting when no sounds around to amplify....lots of love glynis

@Bertman Will do, though thinking about T doesn't bother me like it did, but it finds me no doubt. I think the T itself is fearful as it is really resistant to the sound generators at this point like a tug of war. See where this goes. Thanks for your well wishes.
