Hi guys,

I've got some intermittent typewriter tinnitus, this bothers me the most during the day. It's never constant, but clicking/beeping. Sometimes it stays away for minutes, sometimes it happens more often. During the night it is almost always completely gone. Waking up I'll get a very loud hissing. As soon as I get out of bed, the hissing goes away and the beeping/clicking kicks in.

Should I try carbamazepine for this? I've read it often goes away after a couple of months.

Wish you all luck,
Benoves

I wouldn't take anything. Most tinnitus resolves itself in the short term. I'd give it a month or so before trying to medicate. Perhaps try distractive sounds that mask the tinnitus to take your focus away.
I'm having this 3 months now. The typewriter is unmaskable.

I have it too, I tried magnesium pills and they helped some. Right now my ears are screaming, i'm trying to taper remeron and just ready to give up, this is beyond suffering.

So I have it appears I have typewriter tinnitus, AKA Tonic Tensor Tympani syndrome. It took me months of Dr visits trying to narrow down exactly what I had before considering treatment...turns out there is very little anyone can do except cut the tympani and stapedis muscle via the eardrum. Has any had the procedure done? All replies welcome!
