Cause of Tinnitus
Still Under Investigation
Hey, folks,
I had an Ultrasound today (lower abdomen) and wound up putting earplugs in because the waiting room was so noisy (small office, blasting TV, loud guy sitting next to me, etc.)

When I had the Ultrasound done, I still had them in.

The Ultrasound apparatus itself wasn't loud, but I started wondering (after the fact, of course) about possible occlusion effect from all those sound waves you can't actually hear with the ear bouncing around inside the body. The test took about a half hour or so.

I'm not worried about it, per se -- I mean, what's done is done -- but I'm thinking in terms of the future, if I ever have to have another one done.

I tried finding some info on line, and maybe it's one of those "unanswerables, " but I figured if I was going to get any kind of useful info, it would be from someone here.

Wow -- the things we never even gave a second thought to before "t" !!!

Thank you!

@Mystery Reader ,
Ultra scans should be fine I have had a lot and only a week ago full body xray and all organs and bowels had ultrasound and CT with dye next Monday.
Love glynis

Thank you for your responses. It was just one of those "things" you start to think about once you're dealing with t. Glynis, I hope all goes well with your next scan, and that everything went well with the tests you just had. Thank you both again for taking the time to respond!

If it's any help, I had a very high risk pregnancy with my son and had frequent ultrasounds including a comprehensive level 2 ultrasound. I could have filled a photo album with ultrasound pictures by the time he was born.

His hearing is absolutely perfect.
