Why unfortunately? Because since I am posting here, it means that I, along with everyone else, suffer from debilitating condition.
I can't pinpoint exactly when my tinnitus began. As far back as I can remember, I have always heard a ringing when in complete silence. But never though much of it. About 4 years ago I woke up one morning with fullness in my left ear, and the distinct high pitch ringing.
After going to many ENTs, I was diagnosed by all of them as having eustachian tube dysfunction. I have had a hearing loss in my right ear for all my life, and while I haven't lost anymore hearing in that ear (left has always checked out fine), the audiologist said the tinnitus was from the hearing loss. Anyone else feel that some ENTs just don't seem to have sympathy or patience for dealing with this?
Since then I have been plagued with insomnia, constant ear pressure problems, unable to tolerate "silence", and lately, I have have episodes where I get a low level hum in my left ear while losing all bass sounds in that ear. Frankly, that is worse that the high pitched ringing.
If you are like me, you are frustrated that you can't enjoy quiet, can't sleep, and stress over the long term quality of life that you may or may not have. I'm sure you also feel no one has it as bad as you. I know quite a few people that live with tinnitus, but it never seems to bother them, nor do they have the same symptoms as me. I pray everyday that someone, somewhere will come up with a way to cure this plague.
My wife is my biggest supporter and while she doesn't completely understand what I go through, she supports me the best that she can.
