University of Minnesota Tinnitus Research with Acoustic and Body Stimulation

Wow now that's great news. That's above placebo in the Shore trials (albeit not clinically significant, but walk before we can run).
quit being delusional lad, trials have to fail for the better part of a century before a treatment comes.

just habituate and move on.

Hoping this session went well.

If i clench my jaw I get another tone which is higher pitched but is not my usual tone, does this count as being somatic still?

Hi All,

Sorry for the long wait. Much to my chagrin, the researcher told me they are instructed to repeat the same timing at least once throughout the study, thus I didn't get the offset this time. Honestly, my tinnitus has caused me to be incredibly confused lately. Since starting the trial, it has been much better, in fact, I have been worried about being thrown out of the trial because my tinnitus has reduced so much. Then, it will peak loudly for a day or two and then go back down. When tracking my journal, I have seen significant improvement.

Leaving the trial, it never seems like any change has been made. But, I soon find that an entire morning has gone by and I haven't noticed my tinnitus. Hopefully, I notice results quicker with different timings. I also, am starting to feel that this plasticity process isn't instantaneous. Its not like taking a medication and getting results immediately. So far its been like "that was lame" and then...I find myself being able to take a nap and I wasn't stressed about my T.

We all have different timing, so again its hard to say if this happens to be the most effective or least effective timing. They could be tricking me about the timing as well I have no idea.

I'm sorry I couldn't provide more information.

Starting the trial in what sense? The actual sessions since two weeks ago, or before then?

The actual session two weeks ago. But, nothing has ever been or felt instantaneous. So it has been near impossible to tell if I am just recovering from this spike. We will see I guess.

That's interesting. Definitely tell the officiating researchers that, I think that may be related to the treatments, and they might find it helpful.

I'm required to keep a full detailed journal with daily entries. They track changes in many habits such as caffeine consumption, medication changes etc. In fact females are required to take pregnancy tests before every session.

I thought the Michigan trial starts before the Minnesota one.
So this is phase 1/2 or what? I don't know the trial phase for those devices.
And how long will this trial run for? Where can we learn more about it?

It does, for all intents and purposes, this is the phase-I for this device. The Michigan phase-II (last one) begins this fall. The second phase for this should begin early next year.
