Update from Autifony Therapeutics’ QUIET-1 Tinnitus Clinical Trial

Not sure why no one found this yet, but Autifony posted a summary of the QUIET-1 study:

Summary: There was basically no difference between the placebo and AUT00063 group.

Highlights:

- AUT00063 group started with a Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI) of 42, control group with 42.
"At day 28 this difference had disappeared and both groups finished at a TFI score of 40 [...]. These values
were maintained through to the 2 week follow up."

- For Loudness Matching: "Active and placebo groups started at a similar mean level, with small changes in both groups at Day 28 relative to Day 1 (-1.28 dB improvement and +0.21dB worsening, respectively)."​

While some people on the forum suggested that AUT00063 could work for a sub-group of tinnitus sufferers, there's unfortunately nothing to back that up in the article, especially considering that placebo and AUT00063 basically gave the same results.

Interestingly, the CLARITY study for age-related hearing loss is still continuing (does anyone know why a KV-3-modulator should help with age-related hearing loss?).

I wouldn't get my hopes too high. Seeing that there was really no difference between placebo and AUT00063 and considering that they had ~80 people, I don't think there's any subgroup hidden in there that had benefits. Would make a much larger dent in the data.

Well, OK, there's one subgroup for which we know that this stuff is useful, namely Mice, but I don't think there are many people on this forum that fall into this group...

It's not intended to help with age-related hearing loss. It's intended only to help understanding the human speech especially when there is a bit of background noise and the person has some degree of hearing loss.
