Last night I went to karaoke for the first time in a while without earplugs to have some fun with an old friend and take my mind off depression.

It still seems too early to tell but I think my tinnitus is louder now. Like how it was in the begginning. I tried to cover my ears as much as possible but I suppose it may not have been enough.

Fuck me I hate this life now.

Take your plugs next time!
They are usually loud and speakers all over the place.
Im sure it will calm down for you so dont let it get you down and get out in the fresh air....

It's more than likely just a temporary spike. Anxiety can make a spike worse and last longer. I'm speaking from many years of experience of living with T. So, try to calm down by reassuring yourself that it's just temporary. However, learn from your mistake. Don't go to those places without a good set of earplugs.

You'll be OK...(y)

I'm not wearing ear plugs to karaoke. I'd honestly rather not go

No, don't be afraid, that will be the worst think you can do.

If your Tinnitus did make worse and louder you would ALREADY KNOW.

I'm almost sure what you have is a temporary increase because Ear irritation. I've been there. At the beggining of my T, MOST doctors told me it was a circulatory problem, and I never thought It could be related to loud sound, so I attended once a nighclub without proper protection... I had ear sensitivity for days, including increased T, then it settled down.

a) USE ear protection in loud places always.
b) If you think your T is louder, the it Will, the brain is an as**hole sometimes. So dont focus on this, learn and become better in taking care of your ears.
c) DO NOT STOP your social life...take a long rest of your ears, and when you feel ready, go out again with your friends, this time using proper earplugs.

The best for you,

Pretty sure it is worse. I just lost a month of progress in one night. I'm not buying ear plugs so I will just not go

Mine are clear and flat to my ear and can not tell you have them in at all...
Worth a shot!
My hair is short now but if anyone has trouble looking at my hearing aids then thats their problem ...I wear them with pride .
You have a right to be happy too!
