Cause of Tinnitus
Labyrinthitis
Are there specific stages to tinnitus?
Ringing? Humming? Whistling? Hissing?

I've had mine for 3 weeks now due to an inner ear infection that I fear will stick with m.

It started off very mild that I couldn't even hear it unless I placed my right ear on the pillow and it got worse once I got dizzy again. It's mild today and I only hear it when it's really quiet.

Thanks.

@fatima,
Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Ear infections take a while to get better and the tinnitus can take a few more weeks after to settle down and hope go away for you.
Tinnius has many sounds so no basic one for people.
If you had medication for your ear infection make sure you have your ear checked after to make sure the infection has gone .
You can try steam inhalation to help clear your tubes but it is a waiting game once the infection has gone but if your feeling dizzy that suggests the infection is still causing trouble and you need your ears checking out again.

@glynis thank you for your reply.

My GP thinks it's labyrinthitis, but he's sending me to ENT doctor to be sure.

Im just nervous as i keep reading threads about people who were stuck with tinnitus even after they have healed completely.

@fatima,
Try not to worry as their is no quick fix and only time will tell.
Try stay calm and find what helps you when your tinnitus gets loud eg
relaxing music, a fan on ,tv, nice walk ,relaxing or shower.
keep posting for support and make some friends on here who understand what it's like to have tinnitus.
