You can't beat a good movie score and I would love to see what some of your favourites are?

There are so many scores that I love, but I'll kick start the thread with this one. This piece of music really helped me during some of my darkest times and it will always pull on my heartstrings, especially with the story it's associated with.

I think the top 3 has got to be

the Last Samurai
the Fountain
Blade Runner 2049

Not THE favorite, but in my opinion it's pretty awesome.

I think about this part of the movie (Афоня, 1975) often. I saw the movie several years ago, and it's basically the scariest horror movie I have ever seen. Whereas the events in most horror movies are unrealistic, this movie conveys what life was like for millions living in the USSR in the 70s, and the song is amazing at conveying the hopelessness and the meaninglessness of it all. The song is so good, I am willing to overlook the singer's mustache.

That made me laugh. At first, I thought it was blocked but I watched it via YouTube and thought it was rather sinister and depressing, but I'm guessing that's the whole point of it. Music reaches us in such unique ways.

This is not a move score per se, but sure is good enough to be one. One of my all-time favorite songs. Below the link are the lyrics.. Has quite a haunting quality to it... The second link is the original recording, which is slightly longer, and has a notable ending.

Loreena McKennitt - Dante`s Prayer - Live (5:37)

Loreena McKennitt - Dante's Prayer - Original Recording (7:10)

"Dante's Prayer"

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and the fire

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We'll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Please remember me
