Cause of Tinnitus
Dodgeball hit face
A week ago I started having T. I was in P.E class when suddenly I get hit in the ear with a ball. Later that day I start hearing the ringing. A few days later I see a ENT doctor who says there is nothing wrong with my ear then I get my ear checked by my audiologist who says nothing is wrong with my hearing. I feel as if the hearing test was not very accurate since I do hear a difference in sound in one of my ears. Can tinnitus interfere with hearing because that is what my audiologist said? Also could this ringing be from a concussion because that is what my doctors told me or the noise the ball made when it hit my ear

Can hair cells recover themselves? I always hear that once they are damaged they can never recover

Depends how damaged.

Think of a field of corn.

And a helicopter going past it and landing on it.

If it goes past, it'll knock the corn over about half way, which could stand back up.

If it lands in the field, the corn will be flattened and won't get back up.

It's hard to say with you as it may have just been knocked around, or it could have been fully knocked over.

If fully damaged, they can't be repaired.

Hence why our biggest hope is stem cell treatments

@Jeff Choi Be sure to keep seeking medical input! At the same time, check out the videos on youtube made by Julian Cowan Hill. He is not a doctor (which is why I suggest that if you have a respected and helpful ENT, please keep consulting with him). However, the JCH videos give an interesting viewpoint about tinnitus from a person who works with tinnitus sufferers to help them relax their bodies and minds. Especially now, when you are in the early stages of stress with this, it can be helpful to do whatever you can to relax your body and mind. So just an extra tip for you. Hopefully this will settle down and go away for you!

Hey Jeff!
to be honest we wont know, what really happend, since there are not many information out there.
it might go, or it might stay for a while, the most important is that you remain calm and start to find way to cope.
