Cause of Tinnitus
Anxiety disorder
I was wondering what crying can do with tinnitus. My tinnitus often frustrates me. My brain still reacts to it with much annoyance even though I have told it thousands of times that the ever changing sounds are harmless. Sometimes I feel sad. And some of these times I find that I might be able to cry (often I am not). On anxietycent(er or re).com I read that it is best not to respond to anxiety symptoms (tinnitus is one too) emotionally. I guess it's like telling the brain that it is important enough to cry about. But I think I'd rather cry about the consequences of the tinnitus than about the tinnitus itself. I don't want to teach my brain bad things.

Therefore my question: what does crying do with your tinnitus?

Crying is a natural emotional release and can help offload the sad feeling and feel better for it as the release can help stop depression.
If you find your mood low most days have a chat to your doctor.
Try do things that make you smile and happy as even with tinnitus you can enjoy them still but have to put more effort in doing them as so easy shut yourself off on bad days and let tinnitus win the day.

Lots of love glynis

Makes no difference at all.

Alcohol helps on a temp basis but what we really need is a miracle or in my case a time machine.

Alcohol can relax you and make you feel happy but if have depression then alcohol will not help and bring you down again ...

Alcohol + anxiety = not fun

1/10 would not recommend

But seriously: don't try to fix your anxiety/panic attacks with alcohol. It just doesn't help.

On a serious note - crying always helped me in dealing with negative emotions. You can only cry for so long, and when you're so sad and tired you can't cry anymore - it'sonly getting better from there.

I do feel there is a built-up of emotional stress. When I cried in the past, it would give me relief afterwards. Maybe it is time to allows some tears to flow every now and then. :)

Alcohol makes you happy? On a temporary basis maybe. In the long run it will only make you sad, I believe. It does losen things up, perhaps it will be easier to cry once I've consumed some alcohol. :p
