I am going on a 24 hour flight in a few weeks and I'm also relatively new to tinnitus. I am planning on wearing foam ear plugs (32 db) through out the flight and maybe even muffs on top. Although, I am scared that this would make my ears hyper sensitive due to wearing them for so many hours. So, what should I do? Also, I wore the foam earplugs to a very loud amusement park and I'm glad to say that my tinnitus did not worsen. They kept my ears very protected even with people screaming right next to me. As for loud restaurants, I never wear ear plugs at all. I do not use my ear plugs unless the environment is extremely loud. I have been fine so far, but flying scares me as I have heard a lot of horror stories with tinnitus and Eustachian tube dysfunction. If loud restaurants really bother you and you 100% know that it will affect your T, then I would recommend musicians ear plugs as mentioned earlier. Alpine music pro is the best for a good price, but if you are planning to go to parties quite often and want to enjoy the music, I would invest in custom ones. They are very expensive but useful in the long run or so my audiologist says. Good luck and my prayers are with you.
