What Hobbies Do You Have? (and Does Tinnitus Interfere?)

We find ourselves coping with hell on earth
- and our families try not to snicker.....?

They have no idea of our pain!
I was at my brother's during the summer. His girlfriend and her daughter were there along with my brother. The daughter starting blowing up an inflatable swimming pool in the house that she sometimes uses to sleep in as it had gone down a little. She used an automatic pump that made a hell of a noise. I didn't know she was going to do it and was sitting next to her. I quickly put my fingers in my ears. My brother went "Oh, he's got Tinnitus (using the Tin ITE us way of saying it). He laughed as did his girlfriend while they were watching me. Thing is,is that he has mild tinnitus himself. If only he knew the difference between that and what I (we) hear.

I remember when I first stumbled upon this forum during my 'mild T days', I couldn't understand how it could possibly have such a negative impact on people! Mild and moderate to severe T are like two completely different worlds...

He lacks empathy - humanity.

I'm a filmmaker and make a living doing it. I have to be in all kinds of situations, and some of them are really loud places. When I first got deeply affected by tinnitus and hyperacusis I thought my career was over. Over a year later I've done some of the craziest shoots ever in my life. So you can still do anything. If I don't tell myself this everyday then my life is over. (and trust me, I have had plenty of moments getting a taste of how bad tinnitus can get)

What type of films do you make?

What type of films do you make?

I used to be an editor for SkyDoesMinecraft on YouTube, and left 3 years ago to be a freelance filmmaker and make my own projects. I do documentary films, which I've worked on a few, one of which was a passion project. I also do various freelance gigs like events, corporate, music videos, commercials, etc. It's definitely not easy but I feel like I could never go back to being an employee somewhere.

I am drummer, tinnitus is robbing me of that. It's pretty well what will give me the worse reaction. Even if use double hearing protection. I also picked up the guitar as a tool to distract. I am hanging to my drum kit in hopes I will truly habituate. Rendering graphics. I workout 4 to 5 days a week. I have a killer entertainment system so I watch too much TV for my own good. With 7.1 surround at times.

Well, I used to be a metal band frontman. These days are now over. But you know what, screw it. I consider myself to be too old for it anyway (I'm 32). Now I'm just listening to quiet classical music and slowly rehabilitating from my T and H (5 months in). I believe that everything happens for a reason. ;)

Wood shop with 12 beers sharpening things hammering on things to build something looking for the sander.
