What If There Was Someone on Tinnitus Talk Encouraging Us to Kill Ourselves?

The case I read about involved one person telling another person about suicide methods. The suicidal person had already made a decision to die.

I think that there is a difference between getting a person who hasn't considered suicide to think about it and then to go ahead with it, and helping an adult (who thought a long time about it and ended up deciding to end his or her life) to fulfill their wish. The former is horrible, whereas the latter might in fact be the humane thing to do, in some cases.

You have kinda black and white thinking with those two cases you kno? Like you go from one extreme to another extreme, there is plenty of space between those two

And I don't know why you keep talking about euthanasia and assisted suicide and telling about different suicide methods? Like I didn't think about those kinda things at all.

I meant like ENCOURAGING people to kill themselves so that more and more people would commit suicide and different news outlets would tell about inviduals committing suicides due to tinnitus. I mean like using others suicide-vulnerability like to gain something for "yourself". I mean like so that it would help "yourself", other ones' suicide would be your gain and they may think "oh it will make the researchers/scientists to hurry up and find the cure for tinnitus" you know? I dunno we might have a language barrier our somtink lol

Kidding aside, I have yet to see anyone encouraging anyone to kill themselves... That person would have to be extremely impressionable. Probably would have done it with or without aggravation.

I also have a friend who keeps threatening to kill himself every weekend... He's still alive 6 years later. I'm not sure why he's doing this to his friends and family.

This is very common in folks with borderline personality disorder. I doubt he even realizes the emotional damage he's inflicting on his loved ones, he's likely very ill.

Suppose someone makes numerous posts where they describe their suffering. The suffering is clearly horrendous, and their situation is definitely hopeless. In the future, things will only get worse for them. That person says that they yearn to commit suicide, but are worried about the pain or the lack of reliability. In your opinion, would it be ok to share with them a description (just a description without any words about what they are to do with this information) of a reliable and painless suicide method?

That's an interesting possibility. I doubt that 10 suicides are going to make any real difference as far as research budgets go. The budget might increase by 3 million dollars, but unless it goes up by something substantial like 100 million dollars, the impact is probably going to be negligible.

He would leave his shoes and phone at the scene to make it seem like he really did jump...then 3 days later i find him at a bar hitting on chicks....it happened so many times that his family and friends are getting real sick of it.

He is a bit of an asshole to be leaving his shoes and phone at the bridge. When you said "I have a friend who keeps threatening to commit suicide", I wasn't expecting how far he would go with this.
