Funny you mentioned that. I just watched that too. It seemed too much like Pitch Black 2.0. However, from my understanding there are supposed to be two other films and it's easy to see that Riddick is setting it up as a quest for him to find his home planet, Furya.

Yes that was exactly my opinion, Pitch Black 2.0, with Riddick playing himself. Still a nice movie though.
I find the whole Necromonger thing is interesting. I hope they do make the other two films and explore more about them.

Another movie I watched recently was Planet of the Apes. It was the 1968 version with Heston and it was much better than the 2001 remake.

Just got back from Watching Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and thought it was great all around! The way Peter Jackson combines CGI effects so seamlessly with fantastic characters, grandiose landscapes and suspenseful action and adventure is pure magic.
Went to see "Wolf on Wall Street" last weekend. Not Scorsese's best, but it still was lots of fun... and DiCaprio was great. Oscar nom for him for sure, although the best actor field will be very, very tough this year. Daniel Day Lewis hasn't had a movie out since "Lincoln," so the other guys get a shot. Lots of good performances in 2013.
Oh, and speaking of films: Was surprised "Schindler's List" was not on anyone's top 10 list. I think its Spielberg's best film and one of the best movies to ever come out of the US.
"Citizen Kane," however, remains my favorite movie. And I love just about anything by the Coen brothers. Can't wait to see "Llewyn Davis."

It was kind of depressing, but there are subtle glimmers of hope for llewyn also shown with the cat side-plot.
Last movie I saw was 12 years a slave, somehow reminded me of Django, (but totally serious ofc). It's a struggle to watch at times, you really feel with him.
Aside from movies I saw Blackfish the other day, a very powerful Orca documentary and the issues with keeping them in captivity. Highly recommend it. Here is the trailer:
Going to see "12 Years" tonight! And really want to see "Blackfish," especially since I live in the state where the Sea World incident happened. The movie has caused a big stir here as we sadly have lots of "marine parks" that keep intelligent creatures in captivity, including dolphins, so they can entertain the tourists.

So Luca, I finally saw "Inside Llewyn Davis" last night. And my theroy is: Llewyn (or at least his journey through life) is the cat.
Not my favorite Coen brothers movie. But if you love this directing team, as I do, would go see it.
Also, now that we know the US Oscar noms: loved "American Hustle." Predict it will be a big winner this year.
Best movie I have seen in a long time! Fun from beginning to end, very gripping performances.
There will be a part in you that obviously hates this behavior and rightfully so, but it's like they don't know any better and everyone takes his fantasies to places like this at some point I would assume. I highly recommend it

ManagerI recently saw "American Hustle", too, and thought it was great. Excellent acting all around, and I especially liked Christian Bale in that role! This movie seems like a shoe-in for the best picture Oscar.
I also saw "Philomena", and enjoyed Judy Dench's acting (as always). And her co-star (can't remember his name) was excellent, too.

Hey Karen, Philomena is on my list. Nice to see it got some Academy luv. Her co-star is Steve Coogan, who I like a lot...seems like he and Dench are an odd pairing but guess it works.
The way, way back. Only recent movie I've seen that's worth mentioning. Steve Carrel and Toni Collette both earned a place on my "good actors list" from 'Little Miss Sunshine' and to see them paired together again in this movie made it a must watch. Oh, and AnnaSophia Robb being in it was a nice bonus. She's 2cute and ain't a bad actor either, haha. It was strange having a favourite actor perform a role of which its purpose was to make you dislike them, but other than that which felt a bit funny thoughout I still loved all the characters and their relations, they all felt really authentic. I'd definitely watch it again given the opportunity. Like Litle Miss Sunshine it just made me smile.
Sparrows cant Sing .. idea created and written by Blakey from on the Buses aka Stephen Lewis. 1962 Isle of Dogs, great to see some character actors too, that said James (jimmy) Booth was also outsttanding (Zulu Private Henry Hook ) an Barbera Windsor was just being there but still cool, great to see the Eastend and how it used to be even with world war II buildings just sitting there still. Shame James Booth never hit the big time he should of done but then hey how many times do we get to be in the right place at the right time. Found it so engrossing forgot about my Tinitus for almost two hours. Not well received in its day for political reasons but in our day and age it shines like a diamond. Yootha Joyce, Roy Kinear and a host of stage names deserves a mention just for the cast alone who for the most part then were still just jobbing actors with day jobs.

It was ok. First hour was boring as hell. and it's Not the wonderwoman i remember who was more of a vigilante superhero than a foreign warrior but i'm not a comic pro either...
She was portrayed as rather "spacey" on social contexts and of course needed the guidance of a male character to deliver the entire plot. i'm pretty sure if the character were male he wouldn't be even a little bit spacey or have any female share so much of the credit for the plot with him. Just my observation...

I really enjoyed that one as well! I was very moved by it.
I've been catching a lot of war movies from the Redbox lately. So far the best are The Zoo Keepers Wife and The Promise. Though the others have been pretty decent as well.
Watched Miss Sloane last night and it was pretty awesome. Same Actress as Zoo.
