When One Sound Disappears, the Other Appears, and So On

@Smartone202 Hey, Ya sleep is doing pretty well. Maybe it's just coincidence but I've only been getting 5.5-6 hours of sleep on purpose and my tinnitus is really manageable. Could be I'm in one of my rare lulls. But anyway thanks for asking. How are you doing?

What do you mean 5.5-6 hours "on purpose"? is that amount of time considered good anyway?

Glad to hear your T is now manageable. That's amazing! What has happened over the last few months that got you to this point?

I personally am struggling badly right now after being at a manageable stage myself in late November through late December. I basically returned to baseline T of just regular light ringing. I had almost FORGOTTEN about how bad and horrific my situation was and figured it was a thing of the past. Was envisioning my success story post. Now I'm back to feeling like I did back in September/October. Head buzz mixed in with pulsating T over my regular T. Really sad. Can't enjoy a lot of stuff right now again including watching TV as the head buzz affects me being able to hear the dialogue. Affects me being able to fall asleep easily a lot of nights, too.

Time? I guess? I still have shitty days, yesterday being one of them. By the sleep thing I mean I set my alarm for that amount of sleep and I feel better. If I get 8+ hours of sleep I feel like someone hit me with a truck and ears are blaring

Baseline for most of the day today! First time in maybe a month. God please keep me here!!!

Finally made an appt to go back to the ENT. After almost 6 months of pulsating tinnitus I think it's time I get checked out and possibly set up for a cat scan. For all I know it could be a tumor. I'd at least rather be safe than sorry.

I'm better than I was during onset of the PT back late last year of course. I guess that should be considered huge. Even the T itself is better, so I think. I can remember sitting in my apartment some days and the PT was downright EXTREME. An in and out ringing that can only be described as deathly. I often wonder if it was just my stress and freaking out that made it "sound" like that when it really wasn't. I don't know. Perhaps another mystery like T is in general. The head buzz comes back to play every once in a while, too, but the days of it sticking around for long periods of time are gone.

The bottom line is I've pretty much concluded that my PT seems reactive. Stress, running around doing things fast (i.e. errands), if I'm running late somewhere, and even MAYBE certain foods flare it up. When I'm at work going through my basic day it's calm. When I'm in bed or relaxing it's calm I've actually woken up in the middle of the night and my T has been near NONEXISTENT. Can you explain it? Bc I can't. Right now for example. Been enjoying a nice night doing nothing but hanging on my couch the last couple hours and my T is baseline. No pulsating.

The catscan will be good peace of mind, but that's probably all it will be. Thank you very much for asking though.

Thats great news, I am happy to read this:). It happens to me also sometimes that I wake up during the night with no tinnitus. But after a while it comes back. So no idea why that is. Waiting on your success story now;)

We've been saying that since September man. I don't know how optimistic I am anymore. While it's amazing to see my T issues fade away sometimes and go back to baseline, I'm starting to think thats just going to be the way it is for me. Relief here and there and thats it, with the PT and head/electrical buzz are here to stay for the most part. All day today Mr. Head Buzz has been with me for a change. PT has been gone of course, as the thread name says, when one disappears, the other reappears. I really cannot live with this for the remainder of my life. I am only 34.

This all started out as a normal spike. Then somehow someway it basically spiraled out of control into this. Just fascinating to me.

Looking for some support today. Really struggling right now terribly. Woke up in the middle of the night last night with my head buzz SCREAMING. Usually sleep is the off switch for my headbuzz/Pulsatile Tinnitus so this was unusual. An absolute zombie today as I barely fell back asleep. This is no life for someone who is only 34. To think these sounds will be with me forever. I never did anything to deserve this. If only I could just go back to and remain at my baseline T. Ironically I have my ENT appointment today where I will not leave without making an Catscan appointment.

I keep thinking back to my success of late last year when I went back to baseline. It's nice to know its possible. But this phase of headbuzz/Pulsatile tinnitus has just gone on too long. I've been back at that point where its hard to fully enjoy a lot of things. Can't even watch tv comfortably anymore. All I'm doing is looking at everyone else in life and at work who get to live without T and have no idea what it would be like. Sure I know there lives aren't perfect, but we all know just how much else we'd take on if it meant getting rid of this horrific condition. Please guys, pray for me, or offer any advice. Thank you.

Thought I'd report some good news to you all. Been baseline for the last week.

Constant baseline. No head buzz, and only the slightest pulsatile tinnitus on a few occasions.

Anyone want to pray for me that it remains this way? History would say it won't, but I'm gonna be hopeful.

@Deamon22 you out there man?

Hey buddy, that is great news. I really really hope it stays this way. I always take long quiet stretches as a good sign, even when there will be a few bad days/weeks in between. My headbuzz also returned the last few days after a long time without it. No idea why. Waiting for better days:)

Hey @Smartone202, how are you, any updates?:) Hopefully feeling better?

Why Pulsatile Tinnitus even has its own separate section is up for debate.[/QUOTE]

"If you have a thumping or whooshing sound in one or both ears that seems to follow a steady beat, you may have this rare form of tinnitus. Like regular tinnitus, you hear a constant sound that others don't. But with the pulsatile form of this condition, the noise comes from inside your body and literally "whooshs" to the beat of your heart, unlike tinnitus."

... these are two different types of maladies, and should be addressed in two different forums ...

enjoy the day...

Hey Deamon long time no speak. Sorry for the long delay here. For the most part my tinnitus is still there. I wish I had better news but I don't. The only good news I can share is what's happened in the past which as you know has been significant settling of the tinnitus but only for short periods of time, maybe a month or so here and there. It has been ONE year now exactly since my tinnitus was re-aggravated after 14 years of silence. ONE year since that night on that ridiculously insanely loud dance floor at my friends wedding.

I am handling it better than I did back then and the months that would follow along with the arrival of the pulsating tinnitus, but overall it still sucks terribly. I've learned 3 clear cut things over the year about my tinnitus with regards to what affects it most:
-Stress
-Bad night's of sleep (I feel like my tinnitus creates these bad nights more often than not, as even though I eventually fall asleep, the sound of the tinnitus keeps me awake a little longer than I need to be)
-Certain foods (typically sugary/fatty/crappy foods. I try and eat as good as I can, but it's hard to keep up. I still pray for a day where this subsides and STAYS that way, but who knows.)

Thank you for checking in. I hope I'm back in the not too distant future with some better news.
