When tinnitus is eventually treatable do ye think it will work for everyone no matter the cause or how bad it is?

I'd love to hear a few different opinions:)

Here's my take: If it turns out that ALL tinnitus suffers (victims rather, because none of this is our fault, yet we shoulder the responsibility) have hearing loss and furthermore that the hearing loss is the cause of the tinnitus, then stem cell therapy will be able to cure everyone. If on the other hand, hearing loss only sometimes has a physiological link to tinnitus, then there will have to be a treatment that "retrains" neurons to ignore the noise. Whether this will involve desensitizing overexcited neurons or stimulating underexcited neurons will depend on the specific case.

Caveat: Not sure about pulsatile T.

How will stem cells reverse maladaptive plastic changes that have occurred due to auditory insult?

Like I said, if T is caused by deeper neural issues, then a treatment that retrains the brain will be the proper route. However, it could be possible that the maladaptive plasticity is due to a missing signal from damaged or destroyed hair cells. The theory is that if stem cells restore damaged hair cells, then the plasticity of the neurons will recognize the "fix" and no longer behave maladaptively.

Thanks For the information :)

I hope all T and PT sufferers don't have to wait 5-10 years for an improvement in Treatment but it kinda feels that way :(
