Search this forum for the keyword "ultrasonic". You will find many horror stories. Some people's T began after ultrasonic dental cleaning, others had their T permanently spike after it.@GregCA thanks for describing your sounds. I actually have a hygenist cleaning on Friday so i will be able to compare what you describe.

It should be easy to find a dental hygenist who would clean your teeth manually. If I were you, I would walk out if my hygenist were to insist on using that ultrasonic tool.
Why take the risk? Manual cleaning is just as good, and you can easily get them to do it manually.I've had this procedure done about 6 times in the past 2 years no problems.

According to the posters who have horror stories to tell about that ultrasonic cleaning, all it takes is one wrong move by your hygenist and you will be regretting not having your cleaning done manually for the rest of your life...It takes like, ten minutes to do and I don't find it uncomfortable previously.

It is true that there are many risks in life. One takes risks when one either has no choice but to take the risk, or when there is an upside to the risk. In this case, there is a downside (lifetime of louder T) and no upside and you can easily get rid of the downside by asking them to do it manually. What is there to think about?There have also been people on this forum who have had no troubles with it. There are many risks in life.

You can't actually go back in time, so that would be a "no".Should i also go back in time 6 times and ask them to do it manually?

But you can do it this time, and do it from now on.
I don't think it costs more.Well i suppose I can ask, does it usually cost more to do it that way?
And if I may add: We are rarely taken seriously by the Medical profession..* We can't switch it off.
* We can't run away from it.
* We can't enjoy silence anymore.
* We don't know if it's going to get louder.
* We don't have a clear list of do's and don'ts.
* We're pissed there's no good treatment for it.
* We suffer from other symptoms that go with T.
I don't think it costs more.
Thank you for your kind words, Sam. Doing it manually produces the same result, without the risk. And the risk seems to be there - it is easy to find horror stories on this site...Thanks for scaring me about tooth cleaning. I asked for manual and she was very understanding. Didn't seem to take much longer than with the ultrasonic tool either.

My T was Caused by a sonic toothbrush. (Although it wasn't caused by me using it the way it was supposed to be used.)She also said it makes sense as to why I always said no to using an electric brush in the past.
