Why Does Tinnitus Even Exist?

Because mother nature did not intend for us to be blasting music at 120 dbs at all hours of the night, nature could not keep up with technology and how fast it is evolving. Ain't nobody's ears have time to handle that, that's why it said "ya know, I tried to warn you...but I quit...enjoy"

Of course you did. But you were wealthy and happy. And according to your posts you are very smart and an excellent writer.

Thanks bud. That's kind of you to say. I feel this noise and my dubious coping mechanisms rotting my brain but I think this forum actually helps me keep sharp in ways.

Because like so many health conditions, once a theory becomes normalized ( mainstreamed ) it some how becomes fact. The idea that hearing loss causes T is so utterly stupid. It's like saying blindness causes sight.

I had excellent hearing and no tinnitus until SSNHL struck me on July, 20, 2013. I lost all of the hearing in my left ear suddenly and I have had constant tinnitus ever since in that deaf ear. Not one waking second of silence in my broken ear for over five years now.

Yes, yes, this. I've in the past wondered how such a high percentage of women die during childbirth pre-modern era could make sense on an evolutionary level. Surely, it would be more beneficial in nature to have both parents. But evolution doesn't care about the life of the adult, only that it carried on viable and successful offspring. Humans are very social and a child can just be raised by someone else in the 'pack.'

My favorite example is the luna moth. A beautiful moth who, as an adult, has no mouth and has to mate before they slowly die from starvation. Nature can be cruel.
Again it's cos there's an evolutionary trade off in this instance. Humans have large heads, and are also bipedal. Wide hips help with the birth process when you have babies with large heads, but too wide would impede walking. A smaller proportion of mothers die during childbirth in most other mammals, who do not have this trade off

Lol sorry. But I still think they idea of loss causing loud is far fetched theory. And theory is exactly what it is. Meanwhile, this horrendous condition continues for thousand unaffected by any previous hearing loss whatsoever.

True with many at least to some extend as to why some get hearing loss and other don't. A problem with the jaw, neck or facial can cause hearing loss, but it's not always an one way street among all roads traveled. Why does healthcare often say you are going to have live it without any consideration beyond the ear. Most physical causes are known and sooner than later treatments can place the boss - the brain under house arrest. No one is wrong within this thread because it can be a two way street.

"Strong muscle contraction of the head and neck can modulate the tinnitus perception of 80% of tinnitus patients."
"The somatic phenomena are equally spread among people with or without a disorder of the cochlear."
Often with muscle trauma the mechanical parts (joints) of the neck, jaw and face need addressing as well as nerves and arteries.
