The prices and quality of otoscopes seem to have improved a lot recently. I purchased one this week on Amazon for $36. It has high definition camera resolution.
The Amazon reviews of some earlier models of the same manufacturer (Teslong) have been mixed but mine worked flawlessly right out of the box on my iPad (no reviews yet for this newer model). There is a simple, free app that needs to be installed.
It has a bright LED that lights up and it focuses well. It will take photos or record video.
Handy for making a quick check to see if there is anything blocking the ear canal such as wax. My ear drum is transparent enough that I can clearly see the small ear bones.
