Cause of Tinnitus
Loud Concert
Hello everyone,

I feel like it might be a bit of an overreaction, but I just want to get some advice from people who have Tinnitus.

I went to a concert on Saturday, January 21, 2017. I was up close to the front of the stage, with a speaker only a few feet away from my head. And, being a stupid kid, I wasn't wearing earplugs. I had the normal ringing in my ears afterwards (I've been to quite a few concerts, but at least months apart) and I thought it would eventually go away. Unfortunately, my right ear appears to still have the ringing going on (for reference, today is Tuesday January 24). I'm hoping that the ringing is temporary and I'm overreacting, but I just want to make sure.

The ringing has gotten better, as it has lessened in intensity and it's only noticeable when I'm in a dead silent room. I've been staying away from loud noises when I'm at home and I wear an earplug out in public to make sure I'm not exposed to loud noises.

If anyone could help me, at least with giving me peace of mind, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Will

It will probably go away (it's already down to a very mild level), but your body is giving you warning signs, so I'd suggest you don't ignore them.

If it's only noticeable in dead silence, you'll be fine. Just protect your hearing from here on.

You could benefit from a course of steroids - prednisone - can help with acute noise damage

Ringing means ear damage - it's not normal to have it. Your brain may be able to switch it off but the damage is permanent
