Hello everyone

I have had T for almost 2 and half years now and I don't think it will ever go away but I'm fine with that. However I'm afraid that I start loosing hearing because of it, is that common?

I didn't get T from loud noises, it just started suddenly. So far I did 2 hearing tests (first time when it started and 2nd one a week ago) and both were fine.

Did anyone experience hearing loss during the years?

Hearing loss usually occurs after very loud sounds or prolonged exposure to loud sounds. Without such occurences, I don't see why you would get hearing loss. There are of course other less common reasons too, but T is not to blame for that.

Protect your ears when needed, other than that I wouldn't worry about it. :)

You must have some damage and a brain that isnt able to handle the reduced input. If you had perfect hearing you wouldnt have T
I have been testet 3 times they said my hearing was perfect, and i dont have problem with hearing or anything.
But i have to say i have use headset alot, but there is no sign of hearing loss :/

Did they test higher frequencies? Your HL can be minor but still cause T, depends on your brain.

Do an audiogram up to 16khz and u will likely show HL, especially if you are older than lets say 25-30 years as you lose these high frequencies by age

im 22 i got it when i was 20, i can hear to around 16000 hz

You can still hear high frequencies and have tinnitus at the same time. Also you might have hearing loss in 10k hz but not at 12k hz. If the T wasn't caused by loud noise then I would look into it because it can progress to louder T and complete deafness. Many things can cause this such as Meniere's disease, abnormal skin growth in inner ear, bad liver, thyroid, etc...

What if you just can't hear those high freq? That doesn't mean you have HL, right?

It means you have high frequency hearing loss, depending how you got T will depend on how your hearing will be affected in the future.
For me it's noise induced, some others on here it's caused by medication that damages the inner ear, others can have brain, jaw, spinal issues etc

Many reasons for T other than noise and therefore very difficult too say weather hearing will get worse faster over time. Some have had T from firearms for 40 years yet their hearing has stayed pretty much the same.

I would just like T too go away so I can get
back to enjoying my life. That would be nice.

I have tinnitus in mostly my left ear but I've noticed that my hearing in my right ear is worse. I never paid attention to this stuff before I got tinnitus. Mine T isn't noise induced, I think its from some kind of infectious disease/condition/virus like EBV, Lyme or some kind of Mycoplasma.

I dont think i got my T from any of that, i think mine came from Hidden hearing loss if i should give a guess.
