hi all,

Hope you have been enjoying the warm weather (UK!)

Just wondering, as I have been out playing golf and walking as to whether wind noise is harmful?

I am talking of the kind that is everyday and not storm levels.

Would people wear plugs to deal with this? Can it cause harm?

We have strong winds here in the prairies and sso far it hasnt hurt my ears, i actually like them cause they masked my T whenever i go out.

A driver hitting a golf ball is not incredibly loud. It doesn't even make it past 80 db on the meter.
Have to agree, and have to state these some of these "will x make my tinnitus louder" are getting ridiculous.

There should be a permanent thread with a graph for safe listening levels for new people to read and how to measure dBs. Ha

If the wind feels uncomfortable/too loud, and especially if you end up getting a T spike, or a full ear sensation following being exposed to the noise made by the wind, then consider protecting your ears when it is windy. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to worry about it.

And also a note that the noises that are unsafe for T sufferers are a lot quieter than what is safe for healthy people.

I think that T sufferers who are not worried about the sound of a club hitting a golf ball are going to live to regret it. But please go ahead and make my day and try to prove me wrong.

The only medical studies to suggest that's perhaps the case is on rodents who have hidden hearing loss; and not particularly good studies either. It would be very hard to prove on humans, and regardless much of the community likely have hidden hearing loss anyway; even if not tinnitus.

Telling people not to play golf is ridiculous...My uncle has had T for 20 years and doesn't wear plugs anywhere for any reason. He has play golf every week for 30 years. Your T.V. is louder than a golf swing.

My uncle goes to concerts and has tinnitus, it has no effect on it at all and he has it for 20 years- age 51 now. I think mine is similar also as it doesn't spike..

People on here think they know everything about tinnitus but this is a very individual condition, judge it for yourself.

I notice wind also. Rather than earplugs, maybe next time this happens I'll try a little cotton or tissue paper, not deep, just to cut it down a bit.
